

In this guide I’ll show you how to play your favorite retro (and modern) game systems via software emulation. Valve’s Steam Deck is the perfect storm of handhelds: it has an exceptional price-to-performance ratio, a large game library thanks to its Steam integration, and it is becoming more readily available every month.

EmuDeck does allow you to install plugins like PowerTools which will improve performance with some emulators. Emulators not hosted in the Discover app will be downloaded through their official GitHub source. EmuDeck will also configure those emulators and create a ROM file system to simplify the setup process. A: Yes! EmuDeck doesn't actually install on your system, but rather it downloads and installs emulators using the same sources you would use if installing them manually: the Discover app on your Steam Deck.
