Subs acted obsessed with his arch-nemesis, and that is something he rarely ever does. However, I did find an issue with him going off personality when facing Scorpion. The Ice Ninja’s personality is as we always expected, and Sub’s acts solely about doing the job. The only reason they did this was to throw in fat jokes for Sonya to use later on. In the lore, Jaks had no backstory close to this narrative but a US marine that worked his way to a high rank. That's the only sarcastic one liners they could come up with for Jaks? The narrative didn’t stop there as they put in a comical backstory about how he was the fattest kid in school. Jaks even refers sarcastically to Raiden as "oh wise one" just to insult him when he's not there to help. There’re even times Raiden will respond by saying the same thing but in an awkward manner. Jaks always calls Raiden "girlfriend" as a nickname throughout the season. You will be surprised to know that Jaks and Raiden would say them the most. When a cartoon tries to imitate GI Joe then you know the ones liners are coming. The characters personalities are really childish, and why they made them out this way just baffles me. Did Threshold and Roman Films hit a home run again like did for the live action film? That is what cost them potential sales against Sega as the Genesis version had the gore retained from the Arcade. It’s the reason the first game on Super NES is looked at as one of Nintendo’s dumbest business decisions. We all know that never leads to anything good when a mature rated franchise gets censored to extremes. If you are getting MK1 vibes on Super NES, then your thoughts are correct. However, it was aimed at children and would have no gore and blood. In 1995, Threshold produced a live action movie first and later that year would develop an animated series. That brings us to Defenders of the Realm, a TV-Y7 show from Threshold Entertainment and Roman Films who bought the licensing rights. I kid you not as there was even licensing to have t-shirts and lunchboxes for children. Just to catch everyone up on gaming history, MK was such a massive success in the 90s that many outside the industry wanted a piece of the pie. After Warner Brothers released Mortal Kombat: Scorpion’s Revenge, an animated film, my memory of the old 90s show came back to me.
